EXCLUSIVE: Jérémy Comte’s upcoming transatlantic drama thriller Paradise world premieres within the Berlinale’s Panorama part this coming weekend and Deadline can reveal the trailer.
The movie revolves round two youngsters dwelling hundreds miles aside, one on the streets of Accra in Ghana, the opposite in a Quebec suburb, introduced shut by their seek for a lacking father.
Shot in Quebec and Ghana, Comte’s directorial debut follows his quick movie Fauve which was Oscar-nominated for Greatest Stay Motion Brief Movie, and gained the Particular Jury Prize at Sundance, and greatest Canadian quick at TIFF.
“We wished the movie to be an emotional journey, inviting viewers to actively have interaction with the story. It’s divided into three components: the primary carries a thriller/puzzle ingredient, the second focuses on drama, and the third leans into thriller, flirting with motion. We aimed for audiences to attach with the characters whereas being challenged by what unfolds on display,” says Comte.
Newcomers Joey Boivin-Desmeules and Daniel Atsu Hukporti star as Tony and Kojo, with cinematography by Olivier Gossot (Fauve, Younger Juliette), manufacturing design by Sylvain Lemaitre (The Successor), music by Valentin Hadjadj (Shut, Woman), and sound design by Sandy Notariani (The Father). The script is written by Will Niava and Comte.
The movie is produced by Tim Ringuette (Entract Studios Inc) and Anne‑Marie Gélinas (EMA Movies) in Canada, and Fabien Westerhoff (Constellation Productions) in France, with co-producers Olivier Père and Rémi Burah at Arte France Cinema.
